Experience Egypt

It has been an exciting time recently within our History lessons as we have travelled back in time to learn all about Ancient Egypt!

We learned about the crops that grew in the fertile land along the River Nile and even tried some of the foods they would have grown at the time - pomegranate, different types of melon, cucumber and figs.

We explored mummification by recreating the techniques to mummify a doll and learnt about Howard Carter discovering the tomb of Tutankhamun.

The children also researched different Pharoahs and wrote some wonderful biographies about them as well as building their own pyramids.

Finally we visited the Greath North Museum in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne where we saw a real mummy, lots of interesting artefacts and even travelled to the afterlife!
