Mrs Palmer, Executive Headteacher

I am delighted to introduce myself to you as the Executive Headteacher of The Federation of Skelton Newby Hall CE Primary School and Sharow CE Primary School.  Everyone I have met so far has made me feel very welcome and I feel privileged to be joining such a great team.

During my career, I have worked in a variety of different schools, but more recently village schools.   For many years, I have taken an active role on both the senior leadership team and the governing body, and led a number of subjects, including: maths, science, computing and P.E.  During the last academic year, I led two schools, both of which were in challenging circumstances, and more recently have been the acting headteacher at another local village school.

Outside of school, I pursue many active pastimes ranging from cycling and walking, to Zumba and yoga, and believe firmly in encouraging children to have an active lifestyle.

I am lucky enough to have three grown up children and two grandchildren so can empathise with you about the stresses and strains of parenthood, along with the rich rewards it brings.  This understanding makes me very much aware of the responsibility that the staff and I have in ensuring that the highest standard of teaching and learning is offered to your children.

Knowing how vital working in partnership with parents really is, in order for children to enjoy school life and reach their potential, I look forward to meeting those of you I have not already met and building our partnership.

I would like to invite you to an informal meet and greet in Class 5 on Monday 14th January at 2.45pm.

If there is anything I can help you with, do not hesitate to contact me.
