What a great start to the term!

We have had a lovely first week back; the children have all had lots of fun and have worked really hard!

We have made a great start on our Stone-Age topic, with Jacob being a great sport and dressing up as our very own caveman!  The children have started creating their own story ideas from our class book 'The Stone Age Boy'.  We have realised that using precise verbs and interesting adjectives make our writing much more exciting and we now even know about the power of repetition!

In maths we have started looking at number/ place value and we will continue to build on this next week.  We have also discussed practising our times tables and that little and often is the key to making them stick!  Maths Rockx is a great app that allows you to sing the times tables... 5 minutes during the drive to school can work wonders!

Thank you for your patience as we have worked hard to re-establish routines and organise the children with reading books.  The reading records are to be used to record reading at home - children can write down the page range they have read and parents to please sign to say that they have listened to them read (any additional comments would be welcomed).

Homework books will be coming home tomorrow - these are to remain at home for the children to practise in.  I will email weekly spellings and any other homework on a Friday, these will also be on the class webpage.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Many thanks for your continued support,

Mrs Dixon & Mrs Colley
