On Monday, we had a very exciting visitor join us and teach us all about the Maya, who have been around for more than 5000 years (and are still around today!)! Through artifacts, we learnt about what they ate, what they farmed, how they fought, the tools they used, how they communicated through the jungle where they lived, their homes and places of worship and where they originally came from. We also learnt about their number system, a strategy game they played and what happened when the Spanish invaded in the 15th century. In class, we will continue to learn about the Maya, including their calendar, their gods and other important things to them.
